Private garden design for a residence in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The existing 750 SF space was overwhelmed by a deck and pergola that extended far into the overgrown plantings beyond. This project proposes to remove the existing deck. Using a simple palette of tall grasses, river rocks, bluestone, and galvanized steel edging, the garden is organized into areas for gathering, cooking, eating, and play. A new lighting scheme against slatted cedar fences illuminates the space at night.
